Our farm is part of the Learning Farms Project promoted by Piedmont Region. For us learning farms are a necessary part of the school learning process. With us it is possible to participate to one or more days even outside of the official school programme by organising even a small group of children interested in getting closer to farming life. Besides spending a pleasant day in the country, kids can follow different acitivites to learn more of the various aspects of farming.
Here they can learn all about the flour production chain and natural bread-making. Depending on the season, the group will be told or shown the field work, from sowing to traditional harvesting; the milling of cereals and flour making process. At all times it will be possible to make bread together, watching it rising slowly, then cook it in the wood-fired oven and finally taking it home.
Youngsters can get to know our animals, visiting their stables, feeding them. During the day they can also take the horses and donkeys on walks around the property.
A fresh look at the food that is in our plates is to start from the plant that grows in the garden, its leaves, flowers, fruit. The kids will be visiting the garden and orchard with the persons who work in them everyday and will also be able to do some small work with them.
It is possible to visit the vineyards and the cellars and learn how wine is made. We can arrange for a multi-visit project where children get to know first hand all the production phases as they happen.
